The Sound Of Fiji

Task Description: This project required a comprehensive exploration of Fijian culture, music, and communication through three distinct components,  a Word Search Puzzle, research on the Lali Drum and other stuff, and a Creative Design task. The initial phase involved solving a complex word search grid containing key vocabulary related to Fijian music, traditional practices, and geography (e.g., Meke, Kava, Lali, Fiji, Elder, Ceremony), which served as an engaging introduction to the core themes. Following this, an essential research component focused on the Lali drum, a traditional wooden slit drum, where you investigated its crucial historical and cultural significance, noting that it was traditionally a primary communication tool used to announce events like births, deaths, wars, and communal gatherings, and continues today to call people to church or school

Sampling in Music

Task Description: I created a presentation to explore sampling, which is when musicians take a small piece of an older song and use it to build a brand new track. It’s like musical recycling, but making the new stuff way better

!My main goal was to show how producers take “olden day songs” and remix, loop, or chop them up to create a really “good or better version” for today.

The best part of the whole block was that we got to listen to music during literacy, sometimes, it’s just reading and writing, so actually playing the original songs next to the sampled versions was super cool. It really helped us understand how the samples worked and made the research way more fun and interesting.

History of Nrl/Super Rugby shirts

Task Description: I came up with talking about certain foods but I thought it would be long and hard, so I asked for some help and they told me to do Super Rugby or Nrl. When I was thinking about it, I was scrolling on tiktok and saw a tiktok that was rating Anzac jersey in the nrl. So I saw that the Roosters were wearing the SAME Anzac jersey the last four years I didn’t know. So I went searching trying to find some Information and saw that it represents the second world war. I came up making a slide show about certain teams that have certain meaning of shirts.

Let The Music Play

Task Description:  This theme is Let the music play and this means that we could make music out of anything and it doesn’t mean that we need like piano or a guitar that we could make music from anything like for example. We could use our hands and make sounds then add on a water tap to add on and on and on. So first we did our normal team 5 hui. Then we went to sit down in assembly in our B – G lines. As we went to go sit down on the chairs we saw that Mr Wiseman said “Where is Mr Burt or Mrs Nua, there probably having a extra holiday” Then everyone started to come in and the screen switched the a photo of golden. And Mr Burt, Mrs Nua and Mr Somerville were in masks and started to sing golden from K-Pop Demon Hunters.  Once the music was finished, Mr Burt introduced Team 1.

Team 1 did a video about them making music from cleaning. Team 1 is learning about making music from any material. Based on their movie, they were munching then went to go bake scones, once they were finished,

Then Mr Burt Introduced team 2, they did a song based on emotions, they started off with music in the start, then changed it in another version of it.

Once Team 2 were finished, team 3 were next, they were similar to team 2, they did music based on there emotions, they had heaps of videos of showing there emotions and based on there music,

Once team 3 was done, team 4 was next, there topic was based on how emotions can affect on there actions.

Team 5 was up, and there one was a skit, Mr Wiseman introduced what there was performing, followed by a speical guest Mr Moran. Mr Wiseman introduced, “Are You Smarter Than A Teacher, MUSIC EDITION” Mr Wiseman brang up the best teachers from the best around the world, it was miss Tele’a, Miss Iliaoa, Miss Tipene and Miss Peleti, Mr Wiseman asked 4 people from Team 5 to play against them, and it was Olive, Junior, Isla and Nate, they were playing 8 rounds, they had to answer songs from different countries, and if you were correct it was worth 500 points, as they game went on the from round 7 the points were Students 0 – 1500 Teachers, than Mr Wiseman Boost the points to 1000, and then the last question the students got it right, They got 1500 (as a joke) and the teachers had 1499.

Sports Camp 2025

Task Description: Attended to my first sports camp, staying for four nights and five days at Hunua Road, Adair. This was our team’s first time competing at this camp. Throughout the week, we competed in a variety of sports, including volleyball, futsal, and basketball, against other schools. Our team showed great teamwork and determination, which helped us achieve 4th place overall out of all the participating teams. The week was a valuable experience, as it pushed us to develop our skills and learn to collaborate effectively under pressure. Meanwhile with everyone winning atleast a medal. A special congratulations goes to Koru B, who won the overall competition and another congrats to Viscount who won the fair play cup along with Mangere Central winning the best performance.

Who is my G.O.A.T.?

T3 Immersion Assembly Recap

Every Team explained what they’re doing and what they’re going to learn about this term’s topic. Reading the script. Acting out. Sticking to the script.  Sunny skies School, Major, Complainer, Dreamer, Miss Fixer. Making a Positive difference in our community.

Welcome back to Term 3 bloggers! This term, our theme is “Positive Difference – He rereketanga Pai” As usual, we kicked off our term with our school immersion assembly.  While we got ourselves settled, Mrs Nua and Mr Bury were giving out trays of pineapples and brownies on a toothpick. Each toothpick and a cute positive affirmation like “Leave a kind footprint”

Team 2 was probably my favourite team item because of how they went to introduce themselves, once it got down to anger which was Miss Walker, and when she was introducing what she was and who she was, anger got the mic and did a growl. Started punching the air but then punched the box she was wearing on her head, then the box flew off her head and revealed her face. Then played the first part of Inside out to finish their item.

What I did on the holidays for the first 3 days was my nana and mum packing up going to Fiji then Samoa to visit my papa’s grave and my mum to drop off my nana back to Samoa. The rest was just sleeping and watching the nrl of Panthers winning again. While watching and training and work when finished I just play the game and help around the house.

Team 5 item – What are we learning about this term? What team 5 is learning is about making a positive difference in our community.

Conclusion: Thank you for reading what I’ve been up to lately. Our focus top for this term is “How can we use our voices and actions to improve the community? Please leave a positive comment and see you next time. Alvida!
